Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One
Yeah, its only a 9mm. |
Re: Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One
ANY bad guy can get up from being hit by a puny 9mm, let alone 115,000 grains worth of it.
Feh........ Will you never learn? |
Re: Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One
stopped watching after 3:51 and 4 failures to feed.
I'll keep my 1911, thank you. |
Re: Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One
He had to clear 4 times...don't know why. What ammo was he using? I'll bet it was cheap stuff. And with 68 different mags?
Let's try your pet 1911... |
Re: Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One
my standard test is 200 rounds with no failures of any kind using mixed ammo and all mags that I might use for carry / defense.
Any failure and the weapon is "de-certed" by me, tuned / repaired / etc, then re-tested. Gun must go bang. |

The weapon failed his test. What now? |
Re: Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One
He never said what the test was supposed to prove other than, "We're just going to see if the Glock melts or not". As far as I can see, a "functional reliability test of the Glock 19" was never directly stated.
EDIT: Perhaps he should have called it an "S&B 9mm ammo test"... |
Re: Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One

Re: Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One
Thousand rounds is a 'torture test'? These guys are woosies.
Now you want a TORTURE TEST for a Glock, try what THESE folks did. 150 THOUSAND rounds and a whole lot of other stuff, including throwing it out of an airplane at low altitude. Would that be a simulation of having it come loose during a LALO parachute jump? http://www.theprepared.com/index.php...iew&id=90&Item Oh yeah, and it's the Glock 21 in a REAL MAN'S caliber - .45 ACP! |

How does the ammo in the Glock 21 rate on your chronograph while it is falling out of a low altitude airplane? Is it more deadly if the G21 hit someone in the head over say a G19 that fell out of a plane from the same altitude? I mean the puss y 9mm G19 would what, scratch someones head maybe at best? :36_3_12: |
Re: Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One

Actually NO. The G21 would land SQUARELY on the bad guys head and he would be dead. The G19 would MISS the bad guy and you would have to either use your EBR or go hand to hand with him. :111: |

"Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One"
Nowadays people would literally kill to get their hands on some of that ammo. They should of sold it instead of blasting it. |

Yeah, OR kept it for the coming bad times. But some folks have loads of ammo. Others do not. I hope EVEYRONE on this board has enough. Because the bad times ARE COMING. |
Re: Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One
Theres always two sides to a debate... ***Edited as I type to fast and can't spell - Great Combo***
Glock Lovers Glock Haters Mileage will verry I guess... I've had my 21 for atleast 12 years and never had a stove pipe or FTF or any real malfunctions... I always try to use atleast midgrade ammo... Can't afford match stuff with as much as I go though... Am I saying Glock is the best out there, no way.... I don't think there is a best... As I said above Milage and opinions will very... Do I feel confident and safe using my Glock, ues, would I trust my life to it over something else... YES... Do I think there are other pistols out there that are just as good... Yes... Would I buy another one, yes... Will I, hopefully... Depends on cash and avalibility.. |
Re: Glock Thousand Round Torture Test--Part One
smullen,
You hit it right on the head. As a Glock certified armorer, I hate to admit it, I don't like the fit/feel when firing a Glock. But that's just me. So I don't own one. Like you've said on this and other threads "your mileage will vary". ABSOLUTELY. Good call. And you can get it in any flavor you want. From mild to wild. Hard to beat a Glock. BUT IT MUST FIT YOU. Otherwise it will sit in your safe/drawer/closet because you won't take it out and use it. And you definitely won't carry it. The Springfield XD thread you responded to says pretty much the same thing. And I concur. A weapon is like your car or your significant other. If the fit is not good, in the long run you won't keep it. SPOT ON. |

I like my Glock 23, and it fits my hands very well. Putting Agrip (pressure sensitive grip material) on it helps a lot also. Also as a personal choice, I've currently got it set up as a pseudo-Glock 19 (9mm barrel, ejector, extractor). Even with trigger smoothing, it will never match the trigger pull on my Colt 1991A1 (modified/tuned by me, myself & I). It doesn't need to. Trigger pull is just one factor in deciding on a defense pistol. Glocks are ugly (except in shocking Pepto-Bismol pink), but they generally work. No funky trigger lock mechanisms (Taurus & others) or mag disconnect safeties (S&W & BHP) to get in the way. Point & "click." I like them. Pistol choice is very personal. Sometimes what seems to be "common sense" choice turns out to NOT be the best choice - you've often got to try a weapon out for a while before you buy it. I remember being surprised years ago when my wife selected my Browning Hi Power (9mm) pistol over a 9mm Makarov pistol (in either 9mm Mak or .380ACP) as "her" pistol. The blowback recoil of the Mak felt more severe to her than the BHP's recoil. She HATED the .40S&W recoil through my Glock 23. The only part on a Glock I could consistently break was the "nose" of the extractor on my Glock 21. When practicing type 3 malfunction clearances (double feed - empty case in the chamber, another round fed into the back of it), you rip the mag out of the well, tip the weapon to the side, rack the slide vigorously to clear the chamber. As part of the clearance process, the slide slams home on a chambered casing, forcing the extractor to theoretically slip over the cartridge "rim". Sometimes, it would slip over the rim, but eventually the lower corner of the extractor "nose" or "hook" would chip off. I'm not sure if this would also happen with the 9mm or .40S&W flavors of the Glock, but I went through several .45ACP (Glock 21) extractors. The chipped extractors would still "work", but I wouldn't trust them for social purposes, and installed a new one before selling the pistol to a shooting buddy. |
